As you know, our school has been taking part in the An Taisce Green- Schools programme. Our school has been very successful to date in running four themes of the programme: Litter & Waste, Energy, Water and Travel. This year, our school is starting the 5th theme in the Green-Schools programme: Biodiversity.
Many schools across the country are starting the Biodiversity theme this year. The Biodiversity theme will run over the next two years. Successful implementation of the Green-Schools Travel Biodiversity allows schools to achieve their fifth flag for Travel.
It is a challenging programme and one that will involve you as parents. One of the An Taisce Biodiversity Education Officers for the Dublin region will be working closely with us in order to help us achieve our goals. The Officer will provide support in getting the Biodiversity theme started in terms of schools visits, presentations, incentives, offering ideas, guidance and supporting training of teachers and pupils when the need arises.
