Vet in Junior Infants

We set up a vet’s corner in the classroom as part of our ‘Aistear’ programme. We learned how to take care of various pets. We cleaned, fed, groomed and cut their nails too! We had to take our pets to the vet when they were sick. We filled in an information form prior to our visit. Some pets got an injection and medication for their illness. The vet took their temperature and put a bandage on any injured animals. Some children made new homes for their pets out of lego. We enjoyed the role-play and had great fun at the vets. We now know how important it is to take good care of pets. It’s a lot of work!
